Why we started Red Sky Ranch, who's behind it, and where we stand today.
Red Sky Ranch Therapeutic Barn was founded by Jonathan "Jonny" Eenhuis in Hudson, Colorado, with his father Ron by his side. The organization became an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) public charity in September 2023.
The idea is simple: animals meet people where they are. A quiet barn, a gentle mini cow, and a little patience can open a door that's sometimes hard to open any other way — for a child working through a hard week, or a veteran carrying more than words can hold. Red Sky Ranch exists to give that connection a real, dedicated home.
"Through the unconditional love of our micro mini cows, and the tranquility of our barn, we provide a unique space where traditional therapy meets the warmth of nature."
We believe a child who struggles to make eye contact may first connect by brushing a gentle mini cow — and that veterans carrying the weight of their service deserve a calm place, and a patient animal, to help carry it too. We're building Red Sky Ranch to be that place for Hudson and the wider Weld County community.
Red Sky Ranch is a real, registered nonprofit in good standing — and we're upfront that we haven't opened our doors to participants yet. We have no animals on site today. We're actively raising the funds and building the infrastructure (fencing, shelter, safety systems) to change that.
